DR Racing Kart North America made a statement in Boston last week for round five of the Gearup F Series. Collecting thirteen podiums on the weekend, ranging from mini to KZ2, the team will go into the final round with very high confidence.

A weekend plagued with severe rainfall would keep drivers and mechanics alike at high alert throughout the event. With 2018 being a homologation year for the CIK, DR Racing Kart North America would use this event to quietly debut the newly designed mini chassis in the US. Having four mini drivers competing under the DRT Racing tent, young pilot Evan Slater would be the only one on the new chassis for the event, giving the team a solid base to compare to the Mini 15 that was used throughout the majority of the season. With the support of Scott Grenier, (LAD Specialties) Evan would put the brand new DR Mini chassis on the Formula Cadet podium in all three races, collecting a first, second, and a third. Darren Long would also show fantastic pace all weekend, finishing second in the final moto and P3 on the overall event points. Unfortunate luck would see local Theo Corelli unable to finish moto one and two, but come from the back for a brilliant third place finish in the final race. Kyle Raymond, a young driver who has been under the guidance of our new DR Racing Kart North America dealer, NSR Driver Development, would also find himself up front this weekend. Competing in the Mini ROK category, Kyle would collect two fifth place finishes and a second place finish in moto three, bringing home third overall.

The shifter categories also saw a great presence from the red and black army. DRT Team pilot Collin Daley (Jamaica) would drive to victory in the KZ category with an eight second margin over second place. ROK KZ would also see DR Racing kart on the podium with Kyle Smith (P2) and Marco Oldhafer (P3). An unfortunate electronic issue would cause Tyler Guilbeault to retire early from a commanding lead in the stock honda class.

The five TaG entries competing with DR Racing Kart, Valentin Andrieux and Ryan Burgess in Formula Junior and Stephen Corrado, Taylor Oshaughnessey and Marciano Santos in F125, would also show great pace on the weekend. Ryan Burgess (Bermuda) would score consistent points throughout the event, landing him with a P3 overall and his first major US podium. Valentin Andriux (France) would also show that he belonged at the front of the TaG junior category, but unfortunate electronic issues would keep him from finishing the first two motos. With a drying track, Valentin was able to push from last to an impressive fourth place finish in the final moto, awarding him with the hard charge of the race. Stephen Corrado (Bermuda) would also have an impressive bout on the weekend with two podiums and a second place in overall points. Taylor and Marciano would also show good pace, achieving a handful of top fives on the weekend, but unfortunate luck on track would keep both frontrunners off of the podium for the event.

With the DR Racing Kart North America network of dealers working together to further advance the overall program, the team will continue to push forward to the remainder of the 2018 season, and onto 2019 carrying the momentum from these events.
