While winter weather wreaks havoc on much of the United States, the West Coast enjoyed perfect conditions for the opening round of the flagship SuperKarts! USA regional program, the California ProKart Challenge. Two of Top Kart USA's dealers were on site at the 7/10-mile Buttonwillow Raceway Park and both walked away with victories against some fierce competition.

"With the offseason still in full swing here in the Midwest where our headquarters are located in Indianapolis, Indiana, our dealers out west have been nothing short of full tilt testing mode since after the Las Vegas SuperNationals event," explains Top Kart USA's Blake Deister. "Top Kart drivers scored fantastic results at Round 1 of the SKUSA ProKart Challenge in Buttonwillow, California. Both Empire Karts driver Alan Tang in the X30 Junior category and PKS Kart Supply driver Logan Toke were on a mission this first event to give them the head start on the battle for a championship this season. It is great to see both models, the Mini Blue Eagle (Cadet chassis) and Twister (Full Size Junior/Senior chassis) perform and earn the results."

In X30 Junior, Empire Karts' Alan Tang worked up from his seventh place qualifying position to finish fifth and second in the heats, also scoring fastest lap in heat one. Battling for the lead early on in the final, Tang and two fellow competitors settled into a rhythm into the second half of the 18-lap race. With two laps to go, Tang saw his opportunity to take the lead and went on to score his first California ProKart Challenge win.

"Since I've started working with the Top Kart product I knew we had race winning material," Francois Doran, Owner of Empire Karts, explains. "Tang has been learning and maturing as a driver at the speed of light. He's got an excellent relationship with tuner/driver coach Brandon Reed and our P1 Engine is on point."

"That's a great way to start the season," adds Tang. "I couldn't have done it without the support of Brandon and Francois over at DMG. I'm now looking forward to be a contender for the win at the Pro Tour with Top Kart USA."

The Top Kart chassis brand continued its winning ways in the Mini Swift class in California, with Logan Toke behind the wheel in the exciting category. Just missing the point in qualifying by 0.062 seconds, Toke posted two fourths in the heats. With the two lead karts scuffling on the final lap of the main event, Toke capitalized and went on to take the Mini Swift final win in his class debut.

"Logan drove strong all day, qualifying second and finishing fourth in both heats," explains Michael Toke, father of Logan. "He was driving in third for most of the main and was in position to take advantage when the two leaders collided on the last lap.  All the work we did during the off season to prepare for his jump to Mini Swift paid off. We are very proud of him and we look forward to competing at the Pro Tour in NOLA."
