Season Primer: ROK Cup USA

ROK Cup Promotions expands its offerings in 2016.

This season we’ll be providing our audience with unprecedented access to ROK Cup events in the United States. We’ll bring our leading On Location program to all seven ROK Cup USA stops, including an increased presence at the National Final in September at the popular Orlando Karting Center. On Friday, March 4, we’ll publish our regular ‘What To Watch For’ segment as we kick things off at round one of the Florida Championship in Jupiter, Florida. Until then, let’s get you caught up on what’s new with the ROK Cup in 2016.

This year there are two ROK Cup USA series’ to keep your eye on and first up is the Florida Championship. As mentioned, Palm Beach Karting in Jupiter, Florida is set to open the four-race series with a healthy amount of entries next weekend. Ocala Gran Prix will host round two, followed by Homestead Karting and Andersen Race Park finishing the last half of the championship.

The second series up is the new Midwest Championship. For their fourth year, ROK Cup Promotions made the announcement late in 2015 of their biggest move yet -- a new two-race series in the northern midwest region. With a solid base to work from in Florida, the upper midwest was the next logical region to gain traction in a growing Vortex Rok user base.

The new regional series will hit two major facilities in the area: Pitt International Race Complex and New Castle Motorsports Park. This series, being two races as opposed to Florida’s four-race schedule, will count for twice as many points so drivers reach the National Final on equal footing with their counterparts.

Drivers wishing to travel to both series championships will reap the benefits. Bonus points for attending races in both series’ will be applied to your season total heading into the National Final. A driver competing in both championships will be able to take their best point standing into the National Final -- an advantageous position to be in.

The first annual ROK Cup USA National Final will wrap up the USA Rok season in Orlando. The event was established to crown a true National Champion for each Rok category. Drivers are not required to qualify for this event (all are welcome), however, drivers from each regional championship (Florida and Midwest) will use their points to compete to be National Champion.

With an exact date and location to be determined for 2016, the pinnacle event for Rokkers worldwide typically boasts over 350 entries from all over the globe and is as competitive as it is impressive in display. We will again be On Location in Europe for the third straight year documenting the premier event and Team USA.

A driver can qualify for a spot at the ROK Cup International Final by winning one of the Regional Championships or the National Championship. ROK Cup Promotions will also have a limited number of Wildcard spots available for drivers who wish to purchase an entry package for the event.
