Lammers Crowned World Champ Again

With Paolo De Conto (Birel/BMB) back in the pack Ben Hanley (ART GP/TM) seemed to be the odds on favorite to win the final after controlling the Prefinal. At the start of the final Arnaud Kozlinski (PCR/TM) got the jump on Hanley followed by Bas Lammers (Praga/Iame). On lap four Hanley passed Kozlinski heading into turn two and started to pull a small gap while turning fast laps. The following lap Lammers passes Kozlinski in the same spot. In the meantime fast qualifier Paolo De Conto was on the charge moving into fourth position. As the race settled in the dutch driver Lammers started turning laps two tenths faster than Hanley and quickley closing the gap. Wasting no time he attacks in his favorite spot at the end of the long straight at speeds over 140 kph and takes over the lead and pulls a small gap. While this was happening De Conto moved into third and starts turning the fastest laps of the race. Hanley will not give and keeps the gap around three tenths of a second. De Conto continues to close and with around five laps to go passes Hanley. From there the three drivers could be covered by a blanket and De Conto is a demon on brakes trying to get passed Lammers. In the end Bas Lammers crossed the line three tenths of a second in front of De Conto who set the fastest lap of the race with a 58.384. Ben Hanley rounds out the podium with his best result of the season.

Max Vertsappen (CRG/TM) took the lead at the start of the KZ2 final from Daniel Bray (GP/TM), but Bray would attack at the end of the very long main straight on the Sarno "Veloce" circuit. In the middle of the second lap Verstappen made a very aggressive pass attemt on Bray and made contact taking both of them out of the race. This gave the lead to englishman Jordan Lennox-Lamb (CRG/Maxter) who never looked back. DR Kart teammates Emil Antonsen and Riccardo Negro finished second and third. Phillip Orcic (Zanardi/TM) recovered beautifully to finish fifth in the final.
