2017 European OKJ Champion Jonny Edgar joins Team Benik at SKUSA

BENIK represented in Mini, Junior and Senior divisions.

This coming Saturday and Sunday will mark the third and final event weekend in the 2018 Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) Pro Tour as the series descends on the New Castle Motorsports Park facility for their annual SummerNationals. With champions set to be crowned and drivers and teams looking to finish the SKUSA program strong, Team BENIK will be hunting for race wins and podium results across three racing divisions.

Joining the multi-time championship winning team is 2017 European OKJ Champion Jonny Edgar. A consistent frontrunner throughout the world, Edgar will enter the X30 Senior division in his quest for SummerNats glory. No stranger to the podium, Edgar has the talent to take Team BENIK to the top in the Senior ranks.

“We are happy to welcome Jonny back into the BENIK program,” explains Team Manager Nick Mitchell. “He is obviously a very talented driver and brings a great wealth of knowledge and speed to Team BENIK. He will be our leader in New Castle and we feel that our Junior and Mini Swift drivers will be able to feed from him.”

Hunter Yeany will be the sole Team BENIK entry in the X30 Junior category as the 13-year-old has recently moved into the class from the Mini Swift ranks. Improving with each passing lap, the New Castle facility will be Yeany's first run at a track with huge drafting straightaways as he looks to get up to speed throughout the unofficial and official practice sessions on Thursday and Friday.

Back-to-back Mini Swift Pro Tour champions in 2016 and 2017, Team BENIK will enter the likes of Michael Costello and Jimmie Lockhart in the ultra-competitive class. Costello has been with the BENIK brand since the start of 2018 and has steadily improved with each and every race. Competing in the ROK Fest event last month, Costello narrowly missed the podium but will look to change that around this weekend in Indiana.

Lockhart has raced select events with Team BENIK as he gets ready for his run at the 2018 SKUSA SuperNationals. Picking and choosing events with a high level of talent, Lockhart has his sights set on a strong run this coming weekend.

Unofficial practice begins on Thursday with official practice sessions on Friday. Two separate race days will take place on Saturday and Sunday with race winners being crowned at the end of each day. Follow Team BENIK's social media pages for news, information, photos and results.
