Supertune claims second SuperNationals win in as many years

Closing out the 2019 season in style, Supertune added another Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) SuperNationals Championship to their resume. With multiple top-ten finishes throughout several different IAME powered classes, the Mini program once again reigned supreme as Kai Sorensen and Enzo Deligny claimed the top two positions on Super Sunday for Supertune and Tony Kart.

"A great way to end the season," explained Ben Cruttenden. "Congratulations to all of our drivers on a successful year and to Kai Sorensen for being both the ROK the RIO and SKUSA SuperNationals Champion in 2019."

Leading the way on the results sheet at the end of Super Sunday was Kai Sorensen. Claiming the Florida Winter Tour title, SKUSA Winter Series Championship, ROK Fest wins, the ROK the RIO victory and multiple podium visits throughout the year, Sorensen capped off his season in fine form claiming the SuperNationals title. Having to come from ninth on the grid in the main event, the Tony Kart driver rocketed his way to the front and took the checkers by a scant .023. Finishing second and stalking Sorensen for most of the race was fellow Supertune driver Enzo Deligny. Coming from the inside of row two, Deligny secured the second step of the podium en route to scoring the fastest lap of the race.

Anderson Leonard gained nine positions in Super Sunday's main event to come home 12th while Xander Reed advanced seventeen positions to end his weekend in 26th. Wyatt Vidovich finished 35th, gaining thirteen positions on Super Sunday to end his season.

In the X30 Junior field, Freddie Slater looked like the driver to beat after scoring the pole position and a pair of heat race wins. An incident while battling for the lead in heat three forced him to the sidelines and to start the main event from the outside of row nine. Moving his way forward throughout the twenty-lap main event, the National #1 drove to a fifth place result to top the Supertune contingent. John Burke put two Supertune drivers in the top-fifteen while Cole Morgan jumped 17 positions to finish his weekend in 20th. Noah Baker added a 22nd place result, while Carson Morgan finished 35th after some early race contact.

Scoring the fastest lap of the KA100 Junior final, Cole Morgan put a top-five SuperNationals result on his resume. Gaining seventeen positions in the main event, Morgan secured a fourth place finish at the end of the twenty-lap main event. Burke was back in the top-ten with a seventh-place effort after starting on the pole position courtesy of his strong heat race results. Jorge Ortiz crossed the line in the 13th position while Carson Morgan finished 18th.

Looking to gain as much experience as possible on the temporary parking lot circuit, Micro Swift drivers Alessandro Truchot, Marco Romero and Diego Ardiles closed their first SuperNationals with mixed results. Having never taken on the event and learning with each passing lap, the trio will be much more prepared as they head to the 2020 edition of the SuperNationals.

With the season now complete, Supertune will immediately begin preparations for their 2020 campaign. Stay tuned for new driver announcements in the coming weeks.
