Supertune takes home four victories at SKUSA SpringNationals

It was a winning weekend for Team Supertune at the Utah Motorsports Campus in Tooele, Utah for the Indianapolis based Tony Kart program. Securing four main event victories, eight podiums and three pole positions, Supertune swept the Mini Swift and X30 Junior class main events with Kai Sorensen, Enzo Deligny and Freddy Slater all standing atop the podium throughout the weekend.

Slater would lead the way on Sunday in X30 Junior as he went unbeaten on the day. Securing the pole position, prefinal win and main event victory, the talented Brit doubled up on Sunday with his only blunder being a fifth place result in qualifying on Sunday morning. John Burke kept pace with Slater throughout the weekend putting two Supertune drivers on the podium on Saturday with his third place result, and added a top-ten on Sunday, coming home eighth after starting his prefinal in 38th. Supertune newcomer Matthew Christensen steadily improved throughout the weekend to finish in the top-ten on Sunday. After driving forward thirteen positions in Saturday's main event to finish 18th, Christensen improved an additional seven from his starting position in Sunday's final to cross the stripe in P7.

"It was a great weekend all around," explained Supertune's Ben Cruttenden. "We really focused on working together as a team and maybe not showing our outright speed until race day. We kept a little in our back pocket and it paid off in both Mini Swift and Junior."

Two additional weekend victories came from the Mini Swift class as multi-time champion and 2019 Superkarts! USA race winner Kai Sorensen turned his pole position effort Saturday into a main event win. Sunday proved to be a little more difficult for the youngster as an engine failure on the warmup lap, after qualifying on the inside of the front row, relegated Sorensen to the back of the field and a 31st place starting spot for the main event. Looking to stay in contention for the championship, Kai drove like a seasoned veteran through the field and into the top-ten to claim the checkered flag in ninth.

One man's garbage is another man's gold and Enzo Deligny picked up the pieces for Supertune after Sorensen's misfortunes. After a ninth place finish on Saturday, Deligny qualified eighth on Sunday and finished fourth in the prefinal. With an outside row two starting spot, the young Supertune driver drove to the front of the field to take his first SKUSA Pro Tour victory. Anderson Leonard claimed the second step on the podium in the Mini Swift category on Saturday to make it a Supertune 1 - 2 as he finished just behind Sorensen. Looking for more on Sunday, a 16th starting spot in the main event would hurt his chances, but Leonard soldiered on to come home seventh.

Alfie Slater, younger brother of double X30 Junior winner Freddy Slater, had a day to forget on Saturday, but joined the Supertune podium celebrations on Sunday. Competing in the Micro Swift class, Slater scored a third place podium result.

Cruttenden continued, "I can only hope that we have results like this weekend all year long. Thank you to all the Supertune drivers, their families, mechanics and to Tony Kart for the best produced chassis on the market for every karting class."
