West Coast domination from Birel ART & Ricciardo
Last weekend, the ROK Challenge of Americas completed rounds 3 and 4 of the West Coast Championship. Birel ART & Ricciardo Dealers from the area were able to set quick times and big results for this very competitive race series.
In Briggs & Stratton Junior, an engine package notorious for creating close racing out-of-the-box, the young driver Cooper Becklin was able to put his machine into the P2 position for qualifying. ROK Senior pilot, Jake Drew (PGR/Ricciardo), put on a impressive performance, making it look easy, with a P1 in the session. ROK Shifter pilot, and long time PSL driver, Alex Keyes (All Stars Karting - Birel ART), put down another P1 in qualifying while his team mate, Nicky Hayes, backed up the Ricciardo's with a P2. ROK Masters pilot Paul Bonila put in a P1 and Tatikan threw down a P2.
Saturday's main event (Round 3), would see great results from Jake Drew, who won the main by 7.5 seconds. ROK Shifter duo, Alex Keyes and Nicky Hayes would also back up the entire Birel ART & Ricciardo armies by finishing P1 and P3 respectively. In the Masters ROK category, Paul Bonilla would take home a P1 on his home soil of California.
Moving into Sunday (Round 4), more strong results were displayed. Jake Drew in ROK Senior qualified P1 for Phil Giebler Racing, Cooper Becklin (Go Kart Hero / Birel ART) P2 in Briggs Junior. ROK Shifter drivers, Alex Keyes P1 and Nicky Hayes P2 while the Masters driver were in the same zone with Bonilla P1 and Tatikan P3.
The final's saw some similar results to Saturday's finishing order with more strong results. ROK Senior was again dominated by Jake Drew on his Ricciardo working the track at Fontana to take home a huge win for PGR. Cooper Becklin showed strength and maturity in ROK Junior finishing P2 for Go Kart Hero. Alex Keyes pulled off the same result in the six speed gear box category finishing on the top step with a P1. ROK Master's pilot Paul Bonilla brought home P1 again for Full Throttle Karting, and Tatikan was tucked in right behind with P2 for the Ricciardo/PGR team.
Dominic Labrecque - President, Birel ART N.A. - “I feel it was a good weekend for all of us. We're showing that the karts are working on many different compounds of tires and engines, making us competitive across the nation. With consistent results like these, I can say I'm thrilled to see the shared success of the Ricciardo/Birel ART dealers, many of who are creating a large retail impact on the west coast.â€ÂÂÂÂ
