DR Racing Kart North America showed great pace in Indiana this past weekend, with a victory at the Elkhart Grand Prix and a solid showing at the Superkarts! USA Summernationals.
Joe Ruch and Tony Malito, of Frontier Autosport, would set to compete in the 125 shifter (KZ) category at the Elkhart ÃƒÆ’Ã‚Â¢ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚Â¬Ãƒâ€¦Ã¢â‚¬Å“RiverwalkÃƒÆ’Ã‚Â¢ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚Â¬Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â Grand Prix. Joe, who is no stranger to temporary street circuits, put his Modena powered DR M99 on the pole by eight tenths over second place. Joe would continue on to win the prefinal, and then the final by more than six seconds over second place, clinching a truly dominant sweep on the weekend. Tony Malito would also compete in the 125 category, showing excellent pace and placing seventh overall out of the nineteen kart field.
Virtually up the road from Elkhart, the Superkarts!USA Summernationals was set to take place from the famed Newcastle Motorsports Park. DR Racing Kart North America would team up three dealers to compete in the event, with the presence of DRT Racing, Bromberek Racing Team, and Alan Scuito Racing operating under one outfit.
The S1 Pro Shifter Category would have DRT Pilot Collin Daley show great pace throughout the weekend. Collin would qualify P5 on Saturday, showing that he had a place among the top karting drivers in the world. Unfortunate luck would see Collin fall back in the prefinal, but make his way back up to a solid sixth place finish in Saturday's final. Sunday, Collin would suffer a DNF in the prefinal, but would work back to P7 in the main.
Keawn Tandon, the young Californian under the guidance of veteran karting drive Alan Scuito, would join DRT Racing's Tyler Guilbeault in the S2 semi pro category in spiceland. Keawn has been making waves on the west coast, and this weekend would bode no differently, as Keawn would spend the majority of the weekend inside the top five. Saturday, he would start the final from the front row, and would bring home a stellar fourth place finish. Sunday, Keawn would start the main from the third starting box, but would then be taken out in the opening corners of the race. Keawn was able to finish the final, but by the time he returned to the track he would be far enough behind he would have to settle for fourteenth place. After an extended period of time out of the driver seat, Tyler Guilbeault would also show good pace and have a solid return to the Pro Tour. Tyler gained solid pace throughout the four day event, and would finish P10 0n both Saturday and Sunday.
Aaron Bromberek would be the only DR pilot competing in a TaG category this weekend. With split groups and not all drivers in the X30 senior group making the main, the event would require stellar pace and a fair amount of luck. Aaron would have both on Saturday, but luck would not be on his side for Sunday. Aaron would qualify merely eight tenths off of pole on Saturday, which was enough to put him back to P40 out of 78 of the best TaG drivers in the world. Aaron would transfer into the main, and fight his way forward to a brilliant twenty eighth place finish. Sunday, Aaron advanced his qualifying up to P34, but on track contact in both the prefinal and the LCQ would keep him out of contention in Sunday's main.
