Paul Bocuse puts SCR and Redspeed on the podium in SKUSA Winter Series
Four top-ten results for Speed Concepts Racing.
Kicking off the 2020 year in South Florida, Speed Concepts Racing entered six drivers at the opening round of the Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) Winter Series. Taking place at the AMR Motorplex in Homestead, Florida, Paul Bocuse led the Redspeed by OTK branded race team on the results sheet with a solid weekend that included a podium result on Saturday in X30 Junior.
“Paul had his best event with us to date,†expressed Speed Concepts Racing Owner Mike Speed. “He drove exceptionally well and was rewarded with a podium result. Closing the weekend with third and sixth place finishes, and had to drive to sixth from a first corner incident that saw him fall back to 32nd, Paul will battle for the championship at the final round of the two-weekend series in February.â€ÂÂÂÂ
While Bocuse led the weekend for the X30 Junior trio, all three showed top-ten pace in wheel-to-wheel action. Jack Jeffers finished in the top-ten in all three official on track sessions on Saturday claiming a tenth place result in the end. Jace Park was able to improve on his Saturday results to finish in 12th on Sunday.
After claiming a win at the WKA Manufacturers Cup program in December in his senior debut, Luca Mars continued with his successes garnering a fifth place result on Saturday. After qualifying 14th and finishing seventh in his prefinal, Mars showed that he will be a force for many more senior wins in 2020. Sunday saw the rookie claim a sixth place result in his prefinal before some bad luck in the day's main event. Speed Concepts Racing teammate Luke Lange rebounded from his Saturday finishes to turn his 27th place qualifying effort into a strong 12th place result when the final checkered flag had flown.
Speed added, “Both Luca and Luke are performing well as rookies in the tough senior class. There are a lot of positives to take from their performances, as well as all the drivers on our team, to build upon for future events.â€ÂÂÂÂ
Ayden Ingratta was back behind a Speed Concepts Racing Redspeed Kart in the Mini Swift class and drove his way to a pair of top-15 results. Gaining 18 positions from qualifying to the final checkered flag on Saturday, Ingratta put on a strong performance in Sunday's main event gaining seven positions in the day's main event.
Mike Speed continued, “Thank you to our drivers, mechanics, families and supporters for all the help and motivation as we head into a new year. Special thanks to Chris Freckelton of Precision Works Racing Engines for all of his hard work and support.â€ÂÂÂÂ
