ROK Sonoma revving up for the Challenge Of The Americas
Junior ROK to be the feature race.
ROK Sonoma presented by Sanzaru Race #2 will be a warm up for the Challenge of the Americas race. ROK Sonoma will run on the Reverse National track configuration, the same configuration that COTA will use April 13-15. Some out of the region's top racers are expected to gain experience on the track, making this one of the largest attended races of the year. The already competitive ROK classes should be even stronger at the race!
One of the classes that should get a boost from the extra entries may be the "Featured" Junior ROK class. Junior ROK proved to be one of the largest classes in ROK Sonoma Race #1, with many taking advantage of the conversion over to ROK. With 2017 ROK Champion, Bryson Lew winning the last race, his experience in the series adds another top driver up front to battle William Ferguson and Nolan Siegel who has stepped up his game from last year. Veteran COTA driver Cooper Becklin is coming from Oregon to race ROK Sonoma.
Watch for the Senior and Masters ROK and ROK Shifters to put on a great show with our own ROK Champions Aaron Farris, Jeff Moore, and the influx of COTA drivers coming in as well. Race #2 will be a great beginning of things to come at Sonoma's Simraceway Performance Karting Center for 2018.
This year, 5 gallons of VP C12 fuel and 1 liter of Motul 2t oil will be mandatory purchases at registration. Also available for purchase are "Stamped" Bridgestone tires. Only those tires will be allowed for qualifying and racing on Sunday, otherwise it will be a technical DQ. Stamped tires from race 1 are allowable.
Due to insurance requirements, any minor (under 18) that is a spectator or a driver at our track must have a Minor Release Form on file at the track. A new form must be filled out every calendar year. If you are bringing a minor Driver or Spectator with you that is not your child (a grandchild, friend of your child, niece/nephew, etc.) the child's parent will need to come to the track with you. You may also sign the release in advance or you can download the Minor Release form on the www.sanzarukarting.com website, print it in color and have the Parent sign it in front of a Notary. We require an original signature on the Minor Release form. Please don't forget the minor's age.
The race weekend will start with a Practice day on Saturday. All ROK Sonoma presented by Sanzaru classes will be able to get in as many as nine practice sessions during the day. Practice starts at 8:30 AM and runs to 5:30 PM. Registration will open at 7:30 AM. Practice is open to all drivers that are up to normal racing speeds with a kart that meets current karting safety specifications. Cost is $60 for Practice only.
Sunday's race day begins at 8:10 AM with a quick round of practice for the six race groups followed by a five-timed lap group Qualifying session, two eight lap Pre-Mains and a 12-20 lap Mains. Registration will open at 6:45 AM. Race Entry is $110, $15 for the transponder rental if needed, $10 for all crew and spectators, and kids under 12 years old are $5.
