SKUSA confirms SummerNats track configuration
The fabled New Castle Motorsports Park will once again play host to the series finale.
Superkarts! USA today confirmed the long-awaited track configuration for August's SummerNationals event. The fabled New Castle Motorsports Park will once again play host to the series finale, this time on a completely new inaugural track configuration than in years past.
“We've been coming to New Castle Motorsports Park for several years,†explained SKUSA's Tom Kutscher. “While it's truly one of the finest facilities in the country, some of our most seasoned teams and drivers were eager for a slight change. So, with that said, we're excited to confirm we'll be running the newly dubbed ‘SKUSA Super Mile' configuration for the final race of the ProTour.â€ÂÂÂÂ
The ‘SKUSA Super Mile' configuration is truly a test of man and machine. The .95 mile circuit makes use of the entire New Castle Motorsports Park, including the typically dormant oval section. It's a terrific compliment of technical cornering with sizeable straight sections to reward engine tuners accordingly.
Significant improvements to the facility have also been made to accommodate the new configuration, including several new exit curbs and run off areas. Mike Adams, NCMP track proprietor is excited by the change. “As a facility, we're constantly thinking of ways to keep the competition close. SKUSA has raced our national circuit for a handful of years now and developing a new configuration in partnership with them is something we're quite proud of.â€ÂÂÂÂ
SKUSA's Director of Competition Joe Janowski was equally enthusiastic. “It's no secret how passionate I am about karting and the Midwest. The New Castle facility has played host to our finale for many years, but we've only used a fraction of the beautiful facility they have to offer. My entire staff at the regional and national levels are looking forward to August.â€ÂÂÂÂ
To accommodate and account for the change of configuration, the SKUSA Great Lakes ProKart Challenge is also pleased to confirm they will be debuting the new configuration at their regional event beginning August 2, 2019. This will give teams and drivers a sneak peek of what they can expect for the SKUSA ProTour event the week after.
“The Great Lakes ProKart Challenge is steadily gaining momentum,†added SKUSA's Joe Janowski. “There's nothing more I enjoy than rewarding loyal patrons and early adopters.
Running our regional event on the ProTour configuration the week prior is one small way we can thank our racers for their support all year long.â€ÂÂÂÂ
Pre-entry for the SKUSA ProTour SummerNationals opens on June 30th, 2019 and is expected to draw large entries. Teams and drivers are encouraged to submit their entries sooner than later to avoid race day registration lines.
