Track layout revealed for Florida Winter Tour Round 1 Miami
First event of its kind at Hard Rock Stadium has layout set to emulate South Garda Karting.
The track map for Round 1 of the 2019 Florida Winter Tour has been released by ROK Cup USA, featuring a replica layout of South Garda Karting in Lonato, Italy.
The announcement comes just a week before on-track activities begin at Hard Rock Stadium, home to the NFL team Miami Dolphins, in Miami Gardens, Florida. It's the first karting event ever located at this venue.
Garett Potter, ROK Cup USA's Race Promotion Director wanted to bring some European flavor to the Winter Tour. “I thought it would be fun to bring ROK's home track to the States,†Potter told Kart360. “Past Team USA drivers at the ROK International Final have all had positive feedback on the Lonato circuit. We will 100% try to emulate the track, but it won't be perfect. I would like to have temporary elevation changes maybe in the future.â€ÂÂÂÂ
The plan is to emulate the iconic South Garda Karting layout as closely as possible. With just under 8,000 feet of barriers purchased for the 2018 ROK The Rio event, ROK Cup USA has ample resources to set up basically any temp circuit they dream up.
Track setup is slated to begin on Monday, just three days prior to opening up the track to practice, which isn't ideal for the promoter according to Potter.
"This is going to be a challenge for us. Our setup time is half of what we have in Vegas so it's going to be a long three days and nights. I have to say this year in Vegas went very well with our new barrier system and the team we have. It was much quicker than in years past.â€ÂÂÂÂ
Unofficial free practice is slated to begin Thursday, January 17th, followed by qualifying and heat races on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, Pre-Finals and Finals close out the weekend. Live Event coverage is set to begin on Friday, January 18th for Qualifying Practice on Kart360.com and our social media channels.
