ROK Sonoma Race #8 - The championship for many classes is coming down to every valuable point to determine who comes out on top!
Micro ROK is the VP "Feature Class" with the top three drivers vying for 1st in the championship.
All the hard work comes down to this final race of the season where ROK Sonoma Race #8 will determine the Champions for the 2018 series. Currently, there is a three-way battle for 1st in the Micro ROK class, Nico Sarphati and Casey Moyer are both tied for 2nd with 93 points behind Anthony White. The next closest battle is in Senior ROK with Michael Avansino leading by a mere 15 points in front of Bijoy Garg, while Ryan Tate is only 140 points behind Garg. The duel is on in Junior ROK Shifters with Cole Shade leading ahead of Seth Huntley by just 45 points. These two drivers have raced the whole season and were joined by Bryson Lew mid-season which follows in 3rd.
An intense battle in the Senior ROK shifter class with Zach Pettinicchi ahead of Enzo Prevost by 60 points. Stephen Eisert, the driver with the most wins in Mini ROK, leads Adam Freire by 170 points and Derek Domingos by 220. Junior ROK's William Ferguson leads 175 points ahead of Oliver Reed and 240 points in front of Eddie Shimmon.
Master ROK's John Breidinger and David Palic have been the only drivers to complete 5 of the 8 races to compete for their class Championship and are only 200 points apart. Patrick O'Neill has a strong lead in the Master ROK Shifter class by 235 points in front of Michael Guasch. Tom Nelson is only 105 points behind Mat Kattanek for the 80 Masters class Championship. All classes are in contention since this final race awards the most points of the season and is not allowed as a drop. The Championship points are available on the www.sanzarukarting.com for review. With Race #8 will be the Inaugural race of the ROK VLR100 and IAME KA100 Senior and Masters classes. With the approval from ROK Cup USA, ROK Sonoma will be running these combined classes for this race in preparation for the start of the 2019 season. Race entry fees for this first time event will be $65.

The race weekend will start with a Practice day on Saturday. All ROK Sonoma classes will be able to get in as many as nine practice sessions during the day. Practice starts at 8:00 am and runs to 5:00 pm. Registration will open at 6:45 am. Practice is open to all drivers who are up to normal racing speeds with a kart that meets current karting safety specifications. Cost is $60.
Sunday's race day begins at 8:00 am with a quick round of practice for the seven race groups followed by a five-lap timed Qualifying session, two Pre-Mains giving Micro/Mini 10 laps and remaining classes 12 laps. The Main will have Micro/Mini 15 laps Senior & Master Shifters 25 laps and 18 laps for the remaining classes. Registration opens at 6:45 am. Race Entry is $110 for the first class, $75 for the second. $15 for transponder rental if needed, $10 for all crew and spectators, and kids under 12 are $5. Registration is at the administration building on the right side as you enter Sonoma Raceway, look for the Sanzaru Games Registration sign.
