Team Benik and Asher Ochstein claim ROK Fest East title
Jeremy Fletcher is Vice-Champion in ROK Junior.
Just as he did at the Charlotte Motor Speedway during the second round of the World Karting Association (WKA) Manufacturers Cup in late June, Team Benik driver Asher Ochstein climbed to the top step of the podium during the ROK Cup USA ROK Fest East event. Jeremy Fletcher scored a pair of wins last weekend in Charlotte and was back on the podium this weekend as he was named Vice-Champion in the ROK Junior category.
Scoring his first national level win in late June, Ochstein was able to up the ante this past weekend. With a small but mighty field of Micro ROK competitors, Ochstein saved his best performance for the last session on track to take the win. Finishing second, third, and fourth in the first three heat races, Ochstein hopped to the top of the charts in heat four to build momentum towards Sunday. Starting the final from outside row one, Ochstein methodically worked his way to the point to claim the checkered flag and be named the ROK Cup USA ROK Fest East Champion in the Micro ROK class.
Team Benik ROK Junior competitor Jeremy Fletcher qualified second but then went four-for-four in the heat races. Taking four race wins and the pole position for the main event, Fletcher could not carry that momentum to Sunday's final and fell to second to be name the ROK Fest East Vice-Champion.
"A huge congrats to Asher for another win in the Micro ROK class," explained Nick Mitchell. "Asher has quickly risen to the top of the charts and is one of the Micro drivers to keep an eye on. Looking forward to the future, the goal is to continue to push for the rest of the season and keep Asher and the Benik name at the front of the field."
Mitchell went on to add, "Jeremy claimed a pair of WKA Grand National wins last week as was riding a wave of momentum coming into the ROK race and that was proven by his dominating heat race performances. Unfortunately, the final did not go in our favor, but we are back next week to give it another go."
The Team Benik - BN Racing Indy Pro 2000 program was also on track late last week and continued to push closer to the front of the field. Both Jacob Loomis and Sabre Cook had the best events of 2020 including a pole position by Loomis and another top-ten finish by Cook before contact in round five hindered another forward progressing race.
Team Benik will take no time off as the karting side of the program heads north to New Castle Motorsports Park for six Superkarts! USA Pro Tour races over the next two weeks. Please stay tuned to the Team Benik Facebook and Instagram pages by searching @TeamBenik.
