Leonardo Marseglia knocked out by contact

Apulian Leonardo Marseglia was knocked out by a contact during the second lap of the final.

Leonardo Marseglia.

On Friday was really difficult to image such bad conclusion of series: Leonardo started the weekend in great shape entering in the top ten in qualifying and grabbing a third place in the first heat. On Saturday he had a contact with Niklas Nielsen at the braking point after the main straight and he went out of the track. Corner after corner he recovered up to 16th. Leonardo concluded the other two manches in 7th and 8th, being 15th overall after heats.

In prefinal A, Leonardo got stuck in the middle of the field where he had a few contacts with other drivers and slipped back into 16th. Starting the final from the back was anything but easy, infact during the second lap a driver spun ahead of Leonardo. The contact was unavoidable and Leonardo's kart turned off. The Kart Republic driver pushed it into life once again, but the chassis was belt and he had to retire before the chequered flag.

“I'm really disappointed for this result. I really deserved something more — says Leonardo - The turning point of the weekend was the prefinal A: I started 7th, but right after the start I had a few contacts that pushed me to the back of the field. The final speaks itself. I want to start the CIK-FIA European championship from the top, where I was on Friday.”

Leonardo will back to the Circuito Internazionale Napoli in two weeks time for the first race of the CIK-FIA European Championship.

Here are all the results.
