The final day of the 2019 ROK Festival Biloxi event was as hot and humid as any, but racers were ready to take on the adversity and the competition shined on track. Many of the victories came from drivers not on the pole position, making for an exciting day to cap off the first competition karting event at the Finishline Performance Karting facility. The city of Biloxi showed their support with trackside food and beverage vendors, a full staff of medical and fire emergency team members, and dozens of local on lookers amazed at the speed and professionalism of the drivers.
Weather played a big factor on Saturday as it threw multiple curve balls at teams and competitors in Biloxi. Two different weather systems came through just about an hour apart that brought with it rain and elevated winds. The second of the two systems was much heavier rain than the first, resulting in most of the final round of heats being ran under wet conditions.
The first official day came on Friday for the 2019 ROK Festival Biloxi, where drivers were met with 90 degree heat and humidity that put their conditioning to the test. With each driver looking to win a coveted ticket to the ultra-competitive and extravagant ROK Superfinal in Italy later this year in October or to the second annual ROK The Rio at the end of the same month, a lot was on the line for drivers to perform.
With the first round of the much anticipated 2019 ROK Cup USA ROK Fest taking place this weekend at Finishline Performance Karting in Biloxi, Mississippi, series officials are pleased to confirm the dates and location for round two. Set to take place at the Amarillo Kart Circuit in Amarillo, Texas, ROKKERs will descend on The Lone Star State over Labor Day weekend, August 29-September 1, for the second ROK Fest round.
This weekend marks the third installment of “Festival†events organized by ROK Cup Promotions after the first two went off cleanly in 2018. The Finishline Performance circuit sits at .75-miles in length and will see competition karts run its longer layout for the very first time.
