Supertune flexes muscles to close SKUSA Pro Tour with win and podiums
Burke wins again while Baker finds his way to the podium.
With six race days and seven on track days in a span of only ten days, Supertune is relieved to have finally put a close to the 2020 Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) Pro Tour. Taking place at their home facility only forty-five minutes away from their shop in Indianapolis, Supertune walked away from the second of two event weekends with one win, four podiums and thirteen top-ten finishes.
John Burke would again lead the way for Supertune as he managed a triple podium performance in the KA100 Junior class. Claiming the victory during Friday's round four, Burke backed it up with a pair of second place results on Saturday and Sunday to be at the head of the class. Rarely putting a wheel wrong in two weeks of racing, John garnered three KA100 victories and six total podiums in the class.
Matching Burke's speed, Noah Baker was round four's biggest mover driving through the field and narrowly missing the top-five with a sixth-place result. Continuing to improve his finishing position all weekend long, Baker finished fifth on Saturday before breaking through on Sunday to finish third as he and Burke represented Supertune and
Tony Kart on the podium. In the X30 Junior class, Noah Baker claimed three top-ten finishes coming home tenth on both Friday and Saturday before gaining fifteen positions in Sunday's main event to finish sixth.
Mateo Rubio-Luengo had a consistent weekend finishing tenth, seventh and seventh in his three KA100 Junior main events. Showing similar speed to both Burke and Baker, Mateo was a victim of not having a good drafting partner on occasion that hindered his on-track performance. Learning with each passing lap, Rubio-Luengo will be a threat for in karting for years to come.
Fernando Luque had a positive weekend at New Castle. After finishing 26th in Friday's main event, Luque gained thirty-four positions between Saturday and Sunday's finals to drive forward twelve spots into a 20th place result Saturday and 13th on Sunday, his best career SKUSA Pro Tour finish.
"It was a long, but good two weeks of competition," expressed Supertune's Ben Cruttenden. "I am looking forward to taking a few days off before we are back in the workshop preparing for the next one. There is still a lot of racing to do in 2020 before we get to restart again in 2021. A huge thank you to all of our drivers, mechanics and families for the help and support as we push through the year."
