Musser avoids contact in front, wins Shifter ROK Master
In his first ROK Shifter event, Musser continued to get quicker.
As was the case all week, Ryan Kinnear (PGR / Ricciardo Kart) grabbed the hole shot in Shifter ROK Master and proceeded to put down laps fast enough to get him to over a one second advantage in the early going of the 25-lap feature. Kinnear had led the category all week, including pole position and three heat race wins, but his advantages were getting smaller with each session. Behind the Ricciardo Kart were Rod Clinard (CRG) and Jordon Musser (PSL / Birel ART) who were working together in an effort to close the gap the leader.
Just after halfway, the strategy was starting to pay off as Kinnear was in their grasp. On lap 16, Clinard made contact with Kinnear, pushing both off the racing line and into the marbles. Musser now had a clear opening to take the lead as the two slower karts tried to regain control and back up to speed.
Musser, now out to an advantage over one second, cruised to the finish as his fellow Texan, Kinnear, limped home in second with a caved rear bumper. Clinard kept himself in the top three, just out of the reach of Nathan Stewart in fourth. Patrick O'neil would finish a distant fifth.
