Speed Concepts Racing set to close SKUSA Pro Tour with six competitors
With the focus on Mini and Junior classes, SCR will be aiming for the top step of the podium.
Utilizing the United States Pro Kart Series (USPKS) event last week to prepare for the Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) SummerNationals this weekend, Speed Concepts Racing (SCR) is confident heading to the final round of the ultra-competitive SKUSA Pro Tour. Taking place at the New Castle Motorsports Park (NCMP) facility just outside Indianapolis, Indiana, four SCR branded X30 Junior and two Mini Swift drivers have their sights firmly set on the top step of the podium.
“Our USPKS performance went very well as we used the weekend to get our drivers back into the specifics about the New Castle facility,†explained Mike Speed. “With the long straights, our focus was to work on drafting and how to be smooth to run the gear needed for the straightaways. At the end of the weekend we had some strong results, but more importantly, learned a lot.â€ÂÂÂÂ
Back on track this coming weekend, Noah Baker and Paul Bocuse will pilot the Speed Concepts Racing prepared machines in the IAME Mini Swift as both have shown tremendous speed as of late. Joining that duo will be Justin Arseneau, Luke Lange, Luca Mars and Kyffin Simpson in the X30 Junior class.
Baker is coming off a huge win at the SKUSA SpringNationals back in May while Bocuse is working with long-time tuner and multi-time race winning mechanic Tony Loniewski, as they continue to evolve their relationship and improve as a team. Luca Mars is fresh off of a USPKS win less than two weeks ago while Simpson had a good return to the program after several months of being out of the seat. Canadian Justin Arseneau showed tremendous speed throughout the past two weekends and should be a major threat for the win this coming weekend while Texan Luke Lange had his best performance to date in the SCR program running in the top-five throughout USPKS competition, improving with each passing session.
Speed continued, “We are looking for big things from our team this weekend. After the pace shown during the USPKS event and the testing that we were able to do this past weekend, we should only need fine tuning over the SKUSA race weekend as well as continue to develop and coach our drivers through specific on track situations.â€ÂÂÂÂ
In other news, Speed Concepts Racing would like to congratulate long-time team driver coach and now newly crowned 2018 Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda Champion Kyle Kirkwood. Kirkwood has been an integral part of the Speed Concepts Racing program since its inception and has been a key to the success and improvement of the young drivers within the team. Congrats Kyle!
Superkarts! USA Pro Tour SummerNationals competition will begin this Thursday with a test day hosted by the facility. Official practice kicks off on Friday with two separate days of wheel-to-wheel competition over the weekend.
